Engineering & Design
The AMETEK PDT team manages the engineering and design process, from development to manufacturing introduction and through qualification testing. We work closely with our customers to determine product and performance requirements, define specifications, and design each product. We then analyze materials selection and testing, prepare stress analysis, compile test procedures, and perform failure analysis, to create a product that meets or exceeds customer specifications. In a lot of cases, we develop prototypes to validate product performance prior to manufacture. Our unique testing and analysis tools and methods allow for optimized designs and products, which set industry standards for reliability. Some of the tools we use are as follows:
  • Solid Works
  • Simulation Finite Element Stress Analysis
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Fathom Pressure Drop Analysis
  • In-house Impeller & Gerotor Design Software
  • Motor & Controller Design
  • Plate-Fin Heat Exchangers
  • Vapor Cycle Systems Analysis
Manufacturing, Assembly, & Testing
AMETEK PDT embraces lean manufacturing as part of its DNA. As such, it has develop state of the art processes from the initiation of the design process to the completion of qualification testing to reduce unnecessary costs and provide accretive value to our customers. While all machining is done outside the facility, PDT takes full responsibility for the quality and performance of every component and system it designs. Performance and verification testing is completed within the Goleta facility, while environmental testing is conducted with trusted outside companies.
