Development & Engineering Teams are getting involved with PDT’s lean movement! Visual Management Boards have been implemented, each serving a different, but key, purpose in PDT’s development process.  The one shown below is to help maintain focus and track status for our most critical and longest lead material, specifically motors.  The board moves from left to right; each key step in the process is highlighted by the cards, which outlines schedule goals, the responsible department and active progress tracking.  Progress is tracked by completion dates for each step, which are measured against need dates pulled directly from the Program Schedule.  The completion dates are populated using a formula based template, which takes into account supplier and department lead times.  Since implementation, the status of programs involving long lead motors are more visible, meetings are shorter and are focused on value-added information to ensure support from management and vested departments earlier in the process.
