Job Title: Project Engineer

SUMMARY:

Researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, testing, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Develops and improves manufacturing processes by optimizing product and manufacturing methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products to assure product and process quality meets standards.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  • Investigate equipment failures and production yield issues to diagnose faulty design, fabrication and assembly. Make recommendations for product or process improvements to resolve these issues.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications. Prepare product and process status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends in spreadsheets, charts and other presentation materials.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space and equipment requirements. Provide guidance to technicians to optimize assembly and test operations.
  • Coordinate activities between internal departments, vendors and/or customers to achieve technical and program objectives.
  • Manage project/program activities, with supervision, to achieve cost and schedule objectives.
  • Assists program manager in preparation of program status reports, schedules and other data items.
  • Prepares and revises, as necessary, technical data items such as test procedures, reports, analysis reports, assembly instructions and specifications.
  • Perform technical analysis, with supervision, to include stress, performance, and thermal analysis.
  • Prepare presentation material and conduct meetings and/or teleconferences with internal departments, vendors and/or customers.

POSITION CRITERIA:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in a relevant engineering discipline from a four-year college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of engineering subjects and ability to apply conceps such as statistics and dynamics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Fundamental knowledge of heat transfer systems, pumps and cooling systems, components and testing thereof.
  • Knowledge of standard drafting procedures, including ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of machine shop manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of military and commercial standards helpful but not required.
  • Knowledge of materials and processes and their relationship to design practices.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks design software helpful but not required.
  • Requires strong interpersonal communications (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner and on schedule.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, polite and courteous manner.

Quality Inspector – Coordinate Measuring Machine

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor, performs quality control inspections upon receipt of products and during the manufacturing of parts, assemblies and systems; and provides support to the Quality Assurance Department. Use and Program CMM for inspections of incoming and finished items.

Examines and inspects materials, finished parts and products for dimensional and workmanship defects and wear and to ensure conformance with work orders, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  • Programs and Operates CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) using V-DIMS computer software and files from engineering solid-works models.
  • Coordinates inspections of materials, products, and work in progress for conformance to specifications; conducts final inspections of parts before shipping to ensure they meet applicable specifications or drawings.
  • Collects samples for testing; witnesses tests; records test results and inspection data; compares test results with specifications to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Marks items for acceptance or rejection; prepares Discrepant Material Reports (DMR) and Failure Analysis Reports (FAR). ? Confers with suppliers, customers and others regarding inspection results; recommends corrective procedures; compiles reports of results, recommendations, and needed repairs.
  • Maintains Quality records.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or education sufficient to prepare accurate written reports and to perform mathematical calculations using algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. In addition, two years of experience performing quality inspection, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • CMM Programing and Operational functions.
  • Knowledge of production processes. Prepare and complete FAIR (First Article Inspection Reports) per AS9100 (AS9102).
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and spelling sufficient to keep detailed records, and read and understand technical documents.
  • Ability to communicate orally in a clear, polite, and courteous manner with others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and ensure that tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Ability to monitor processes, materials, and/or surroundings.
  • Ability to evaluate a variety of information to determine a product’s conformance with specifications or drawings.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and maintain quality files and records.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

License, Certification, or Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMM Operational and Programing required.
  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009) preferred.
  • Internal Assessing to AS9100 preferred. ? ASQ Membership preferred.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to grasp or manipulate objects with one or both hands.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use office equipment, and lift 50-100 pounds in the course of normal duties

Job Title: Senior Contracts Admin

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Contracts Manager, performs clerical, administrative and professional level duties supporting the Business Development Department in the areas of proposal preparation and submittal, contract administration, maintenance of critical Department logs and databases, customer relations and interface.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  • Assists in preparation and submittal of complex proposals.
  • Prepares and submits routine proposals and production re-quotes.
  • Assumes secondary responsibility for lifecycle administration under the guidance and direction of the Sales and Contracts Manager of standard contracts and assists the Sales and Contracts Manager with administration of more complex contracts.
  • Interfaces with customer personnel (procurement, program, engineering, etc.) via e-mail and telephone.
  • Interacts with other internal departments including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations and Finance as required.
  • Enters Data into the ERP System, including sales orders and quotes.
  • Enters Data into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for Business Development.
  • Files correspondence per PDT’s filing practices; electronic and hard copies.
  • Assists Business Development in general clerical duties as needed.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for maintaining and updating critical Business Development databases.
  • As required, represent Business Development at Company meetings in the absence of the Manager of Advanced Product Design and/or the Sales and Contracts Manager.
  • Takes responsibility to stay informed about activities at PDT (reads employee communications, attends meetings, etc.).

Job Title: Staff Accountant

SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the Accounting Manager, this position will be responsible for organizational improvements, inventory control, gross margin analysis, forecasting, variance analysis, and productivity metrics and must perform specialized accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting procedures

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
  • Supports transaction level functions.
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a variety of electronic and manual records; prepare routine and special reports.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with customers, suppliers and staff members to exchange information, resolve discrepancies, and correct errors.
  • Gather and produce special project information as requested by the Controller or auditors.
  • Prepare journal entries. Prepare & maintain the commercial & government overhead rates.
  • Prepare management cost reports, inventory analyses, new product pricing & return on investment computations.
  • Plan, organize & control the cost accounting functions to include cost of sales, inventory & labor activities.
  • Develop/recommend cost systems & techniques for improvement of cost information w/ regards to income determination, control, decision making & planning.
  • Analyze job performance utilizing job costing and revenue recognition utilizing percent complete methodology.
  • Provide cost estimates & related financial data for proposals, new products, product redesigns & special studies.
  • Partner w/ functional leaders to identify opportunities to improve the business results.
  • Participate in the monthly close process by generating various journal entries, preparing required reconciliations & analytically reviewing specific general ledger accounts for accuracy & proper valuation.
  • Focus on improvements including; all facets of cost accounting, inventory control, variance analysis, gross margin analysis, forecasting & system improvement.
  • Maintain working knowledge of cost accounting procedures & practices for government contracts including providing requested data for government & military audit requests.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and record keeping procedures (GAAP)
  • Strong journal, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems, preferably Sage 100.
  • Strong integrity; job requires being professional, honest and ethical
